Kirkwood hosted our first “Green” seminar. Co-sponsored by Crane & Co., Finch Paper, Gruppo Cordenons, International Paper, Mohawk Paper Mills, Monadnock Paper Mills, M-Real, National Envelope, Neenah Paper, NewPage, Sappi Fine Paper, Smart Paper and the SmartWood Group of the Rainforest Alliance, the event provided an opportunity for clients, prospects and interested friends to learn about FSC and SFI programs and other sustainability, environmental and fair trade initiatives.
Tammy Coe, from SmartWood delivered the keynote address, offering an overview of the Rainforest Alliance’s FSC certification program.
A panel discussion, including Ms. Coe and representatives from seven of the co-sponsoring paper mills, moderated by Joe Isaak from Sappi Fine Papers, explored the programs each manufacturer is using to manage resources, minimize greenhouse gas emissions and recycle.
Guests were provided opportunities to visit each of the co-sponsors’ representatives during the morning-long event. The paper companies offered marketing and educational materials outlining their green initiatives.
A DVD of video from the event will be available. E-mail rbrown@kirkwoodprinting.com to request a copy.
